EPC Encoder for UHF RFID

SGTIN-96 · SSCC-96 · GIAI-96 — GS1 Tag Data Standard

100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Note: this is an encoder, not a tag writer. A browser cannot program a physical tag. Write the EPC hex above to the tag's EPC memory bank using your RFID reader, SDK or printer-encoder.

UHF RFID EPC encoder (SGTIN-96, SSCC-96, GIAI-96)

Encode the EPC you need to program onto a UHF RFID tag. Enter your GS1 company prefix, the reference and (for SGTIN) a serial, and the tool builds the EPC hex, the EPC tag URI and the full 96-bit binary, following the GS1 EPC Tag Data Standard partition tables. Free, no signup, and entirely in your browser.

  • SGTIN-96 — a serialised GTIN: unique identity per item. The item reference includes the GTIN indicator digit as its most significant digit.
  • SSCC-96 — Serial Shipping Container Code for pallets and logistics units. The serial reference includes the extension digit.
  • GIAI-96 — Global Individual Asset Identifier, ideal for RFID asset tracking where each asset has a unique ID.

Once encoded, pair it with REFLECTA UHF RFID tags and readers, or run the whole lifecycle in VIGI Stock.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this EPC encoder do?

It converts a GS1 company prefix, reference and serial into the EPC hex and EPC URI used to program UHF RFID tags, for SGTIN-96, SSCC-96 and GIAI-96, per the GS1 EPC Tag Data Standard.

Can this tool write to an RFID tag?

No. A web browser cannot write to a physical RFID tag. This tool calculates the EPC value; you then write that hex to the tag's EPC memory bank using an RFID reader or printer-encoder.

Which EPC schemes are supported?

SGTIN-96 (items), SSCC-96 (logistics units) and GIAI-96 (individual assets).

Is it free and private?

Yes — free, no signup, and everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
